Prince Pizzeria is a New England icon with its leaning tower of pizza jutting into the sky right on Route 1 in Massachusetts. It has been a favorite family-style restaurant for the area and the thousands of travelers passing by it for generations.
Steve Castraberti owns this famous 700 seat restaurant and Giggles Comedy Club next door. He purchased the family business from his father, Arthur. Steve takes great pride in their family business and loves greeting customers every day.
What Steve did not love was wasting his time managing the restaurant’s sales tax. Last year he received an email from his Point of Sale provider, Toast, about an app they integrated with that would automate your sales tax for you. He signed up immediately.
Money comes in one day; DAVO takes it out that day, which is great!
“Money comes in one day; DAVO takes it out that day, which is great! It is not your money, it is the state’s money, and you are the caretaker of it.”
Steve knows the challenges of taking care of the state’s money all too well. Every business owner has the best intentions; they plan to take the sales tax money out each day and put it in a separate account. Restaurant days are long and complicated, and you forget because you have to tend to other pressing matters. You can quickly get off your game because you have other things you need to take care of.
“Someone should have thought of this 1,000 years ago! This is fabulous!”
DAVO has worked so well for Steve and Prince’s restaurant. He loves that the whole process is seamless, with no keystrokes to hit every day, month, or quarter, and no thinking is required. You just sign up and watch your restaurant sales tax get taken care of. Sometimes he says he still logs in just to see the zero balance owed to the Department of Revenue.
“I can’t think of one reason why you wouldn’t sign up. It’s worth it for the peace of mind. Enough is going on that you need to focus on other things that count or really affect your business.”
